"Mothers hip replacement"

About: Mount Vernon Hospital Site / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My mum lives with my sister who badly broke her ankle just before the op.

We were extremely anxious as mum is 84 and has really bad arthritis and incontinence issues.

We raised concerns constantly about her coming home to a 3 storey house with my sister in plaster and unable to use the stairs herself. Tried desperately to organise respite care for a few weeks to allow sister time to recover and ensure mum's safety but were flat refused. Told that she would have been discharged if she had lived alone with 3 daily visits.

Deeply worried about what may happen the rest of the time especially as my sister was not even sent an ambulance when she had her accident. She had to be bundled into her son's Fiat Panda who luckily was there. Hence we have no confidence that help will come if mum falls. Absolutely disgusted!

Relates to Trinity Ward Mount Vernon Hospital
