I was admitted to Aberdeen Maternity Hospital when 32 weeks’ pregnant, as the pregnancy was high-risk due to me having cholestasis and gestational diabetes.
I was monitored very closely for the next 4 weeks. During this time I had a private room on the Ashgrove Ward. The midwives were extremely attentive, despite clearly being very busy. Some went out of their way to put me at ease, for example by arranging a tour of the neonatal unit and contacting consultants when I needed reassurance. They were also very accommodating on weekends, carrying out my observations early in the day so I could spent time with my husband and daughter who visited from Orkney.
Support staff on the ward were also generally very friendly and helpful. Dr Subayo’s input was extremely reassuring.
