I was admitted after having a heart attack and within 30 minutes of arriving, by the paramedic's ambulance, was in a bed and wired in to the monitoring equipment. The room was clean and pleasant and I was made as comfortable as possible. All of the staff were very helpful, kind and considerate and the consultants took pains to explain everything to me as an aware intelligent human being not a 'daft old-age pensioner'. I found this refreshing and very helpful in putting my mind at rest. This is the NHS working at its best. I was especially concerned about my wife not being able to get from Berwick on Tweed so one of the consultants arranged transport from Berwick to Cramlington and phoned her for me. It is the small things like this that make a very good hospital service - and helped me to feel calm. I can't thank all the staff enough.
