"Breastfeeding support"

About: Highland Community Services / Breastfeeding Support Service Highland Community Services / Nursing and Child Health

(as a service user),

I had many problems with breastfeeding my first child. I felt upset and like I didn’t know how to make it work. I didn’t want to have to g give up but it was hard and my baby wasn’t getting enough milk. The breastfeeding support worker kept coming to help me until we solved the problems and my baby thrived. I was so relieved and happy I could continue with breastfeeding instead of having to bottle feed. The breastfeeding support worker also greatly helped me get through my second pregnancy and birth by giving me one to one hypnobirthing guidance. The breastfeeding support group is really good to as a space for new mums to get help with feeding and other issues and to meet other new mums. Really good for mental wellbeing too.

Hi Huzza,

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us your story and congratulations on the birth of your baby. It is really wonderful to hear about your experiences and how support from dedicated staff can give you the feeding outcome that you desired. I am delighted to read that you also experienced the wider services offered by them in relation to hypno birthing. Giving birth is often scary for mums and can be a very emotional time and I am pleased to read that you felt that this had a positive impact on your mental wellbeing. I will pass your story onto the infant feeding support worker team who I am sure will be very pleased to hear that they have helped you in your journey.

Thank you

Karen Mackay
