My experience with my daughter was an eye opener to see such high quality of nursing care in the children’s ward. She was operated on for an appendicitis then a weeks care followed before having to be transferred as an emergency to Sheffield’s children the way the staff looked after my daughter and us during a traumatic illness was nothing short of phenomenal, the nurses were so lovely, child friendly in spite of the high intensity looking after my daughter needed. Some of the nurses at night, too many to mention in the daytime) just need to be recognised and the ward managers gave us such confidence in their ability to manage and how they looked after my daughter will stay with us forever. Sheffields Children’s Hospital nursing care was no where near as good an experience as the poor nurses there were stretched and under resourced it took ages to get help sometimes at Sheffield, where the staffing in Rotherham was much better managed and a credit to everyone who works there - thank you so much ! The nurses ability to coax a frightened poorly child into things like canulars, tubes, bloods etc) is a masterclass in how to show empathy to another person, I felt really humbled by the experience, the compassion and empathy she was shown, was awe inspiring. Nursing at its best .... Thank you from us and my daughter will come in person soon to thank you herself
"Nurses on children’s ward are simply amazing...."
