My son is 7 and autistic, he recently broke his wrist and required surgery at Medway. Our experience couldn’t be faulted. We returned for the half cast to be removed, wrist x-rayed and a full cast fitted. My son was petrified and couldn’t be consoled easily.
At no stage were we made to feel we were causing an issue, wasting time, or taking up too much resource. The department was extremely busy but we were cared for in a way that made me so proud of our NHS staff. The gentleman and lady who cast the arm were fantastic, the x ray staff took the time to show him his scans, the surgeon recognised us and asked to see his x-ray and the consultant and his nurse were amazing - Prof Singh!
Thank you Medway for your help and time in making my son feel comfortable and happy in a time he felt the most vulnerable.
