Was admitted to Crosshouse with chest pain and was moved from A&E to ward only to discover it was the ward prep room - there was no access to toilet or shower facilities. I was given a large brass bell as a buzzer and told to ring if I had any chest pain.

There was no oxygen facilities in this room and during the nite nursing staff were coming in and out for pat slide. On the one occasion I did have chest pain it took them 15 mins to respond and by then it had eased with using gtn spray twice.

And even as I was told it would be ok to shower and use toilet, I had use a 6 bedded room. I was overlooked at meal time.

I eventually got moved after 2 days to another but 3 months later I was readmitted with same symptoms and put in same room again with the same issues.

Dear Jinty40

I'm sorry to hear of your poor experience. Unfortunately, our acute hospitals have been experiencing high demand and this has impacted on bed availability. Please be assured these spaces are only utilised when all other options have been exhausted.

We all recognise the use of this space is far from ideal but I am disappointed to hear of your wait for assistance and meals. Your experience will be feedback to the team to ensure local learning takes place.

I hope you are recovering well

Best wishes

Laura
