I was treated in the GI unit of the Russells Hall Hospital by Prof Ishaq and his team. The operation was carried out in April 2019. I have been recovering at home since then and so far all has been well; the pouch has gone and my diet is slowly getting back to normal. I really cannot speak too highly of this unit and the way I was treated before and after the operation. Prof Ishaq was assiduous before and after in providing clear information about the operation and in follow-up telephone calls giving advice on diet etc. I was particularly impressed by the standard of care of everyone involved, including the anaesthetist and her team. Special praise must go to the nursing team and although it is invidious to pick any individual out - I would like to thank Jill for looking after me after the operation.
What became very obvious to me was that this is a unit in desperate need of more resources to increase the size of the operating theatre and provide more spacious nursing care rooms after operations. Thank you all very much.
