"Lack of support in any form"

About: Adult Mental Health / Inpatient Care Adult Mental Health / Rehab Crosshouse Hospital / General Psychiatry North Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership / Community Mental Health Team (Adult)

(as the patient),

I have suffered from anxiety and depression problems for several years.I feel that my treatment over those years from AAMHT has been diabolical I am sick and tired of seeing consultant after consultant who it seems has never studied my medical history and they don't understand my past  and haven't got a clue half the time what I am  trying to explain to them

I feel like I have been left to self medicate more often than not and they seem to not see that as a problem, and have even seemed to use this as an excuse to discharge me.

They have also discharged me because I have turned down occupational therapy and group therapy both of whom I do not feel would benefit me one little iota. I am in my sixties and I also suffer from a physical condition. Both problems compound on one another and make my life a constant misery I do not feel that NHS Ayrshire and Arran is fit for purpose.

Update posted by mrhowdydoody (the patient)

I've been down this road more times than I care to remember I,ll go over my life history with you, but with due respect, it feels like it will just be another faceless voice that will pass me on to another consultant who I guarantee will ask me what they can do for me and will then suggest some kind of group therapy, which I hate, considering the fact that crowding is a big part of my symptoms and I have been housebound through it for 99.9% of my miserable existence. He or she will also tell me that they don't think I have memory problems because of my age and I also drink so I cant get a memory test until I have been abstinent for a year and also that any awful past experiences in my past never contributed to any of the symptoms I experience and lastly, but most importantly, people of my age group will always be reluctant to bare all there innermost feelings suicidal thoughts, self harm, etc to complete strangers especially those, much younger than themselves who in turn then assume that you need no further treatment In the words of the staff at my last meeting, they were very sorry if its not the response I would like to hear.
