"Fracture clinic delays"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

Attended with my mother in law on time for her appointment at 11.15. Booked in and told to take a seat.

50 minute delay and we were still sat waiting at 1pm!

I complained and all the staff did was change the delay time to 1 and half hours! So we were still waiting over that time! We hadn't been told to have an X-ray.

I believe the staff need to be more pro active and inform all patients waiting about any delays.

Spoke to a healthcare assistant who I felt was very unhelpful and I asked if my mother in law may need an X-ray and they replied we don’t know until we look at the notes, does that mean we will then be waiting longer for an X-ray, then results then to see a doctor?

I write this as a current nhs employee and am disgusted with the service

Thank you for sharing with us your recent experience in the fracture clinic at DRI. I am sorry the staff didn't update you of the waiting times during your mother in laws appointment.

It would be helpful to speak to you in more details, could you please contact the Trust’s Patient Experience Team on Freephone 0800 028 8059 or by e-mail: dbth.pals.dbh@nhs.net.

Your comments will be shared with the Matron of the Fracture Clinic who will share with the team.
