"My first experience of A&E"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Accident and emergency

My GP referred me to A&E and I was nervous as (at 56) I've been lucky enough to never have been before! I did have a bit of a wait, it seemed busy when I got there, but I believe it is often a lot 'worse'. It seems relentless for the staff, who, despite the pressure they are under were very nice ( particularly the sister in triage who saw me). I was sent on to AEC and was impressed by the 'one stop shop' service. I was also impressed that when they took my blood for testing it didn't cause a bruise (I always get a bruise!). All the clinical staff seemed very caring and supportive of their patients - in my experience and observing others in waiting area.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback about your recent visit to the A&E department at Russells Hall Hospital.

We aim to offer the highest standards of care and respect to all our patients, and so it is good to hear you feel you received high levels of care and impressed with the ‘one stop shop’ approach and in particular the lack of bruising after your blood test.

We are so glad to hear that you thought the staff were caring and supporting.

We have passed your kind words onto the teams involved who will be so happy to hear of them.
