"I have always felt safe and knew I was supported"

About: Arnold Lodge Regional Secure Unit

(as a service user),

I found Arnold Lodge a lot better hospital than the hospital I came from, and a lot better than prison. I soon settled in, I started staying out in the communal areas talking and playing games with staff and peers. I was encouraged to go to the gym, I then started attending courses. Mental health awareness, problem solving and education. I also started cooking and staff helped me cook new recipes. I have always felt safe and knew I was supported by staff, they have done an amazing job. I don't think anything could have been better to help me progress. I would like to thank all the nursing team on Thornton Ward for all their help and encouragement.

Thank you for this very encouraging reply about your experience on Thornton Ward. I am sure the staff will really appreciate this feedback.

But please also reflect on your own contribution to your recovery journey. Making progress in the way you describe here is a wonderful achievement and I am sure it must have required a strong commitment from yourself.
