I received a lovely welcome by the Chemotherapy staff in the ward where I was receiving my treatment. However, at lunchtime there was never the choice of brown bread for sandwiches (& I don’t eat white). This happened for 2-3 weeks until one of the staff members - Lorna - told me that she had been thinking about me at the weekend before my Wednesday chemo day & how she would have to ensure that there was a nice wee choice of sandwiches made up with brown bread. From that week on I’ve never had to ask as the staff always remember that it’s brown bread I eat & they’ve always got a good supply for me. To me this is such a simple thing but it shows how much the staff cared about me & wanted to have one less thing for me to worry about - there’s always enough going on when you’re getting chemo!
