I had an appointment on a Sunday at Crosshouse hospital, Kilmarnock. My appointment was for a colonoscopy and endoscopy at 1pm. My original appointment was at 10am, but I phoned up the day I got appointment letter through 2 weeks ago, that I live on the isle of Arran I couldn't get there for that time on Sunday. As the first ferry was 11. 05, so the Secretary asked what time I could be there at I said 1pm. They said that was fine.
I arrived and the clinic was closed. The nurse in charge said as I lived on Arran I shouldn't have been given an appointment for the weekend. As thats a rule they have because of travel difficulties. The nurse in charge phoned the duty manager to see what could be done as I travelled so far and I had took the picolax to clear out my bowels. But there wasn't anything to be done as the doctor doing the clinic had already left and the doctor on call didn't do colonoscopy. So quite a wasted journey to go so far without anything happening because of a secretarial error. I have been waiting 4 months for this appointment to come. I am in pain daily, I have had this pain for 20 months. I have had other tests done. Was hoping today, we would find out the root of the problem. I am feeling extremely let down by the hospital.
