"A patient referred to St Luke's Hospice, Harrow"

About: St Lukes Hospice

(as a staff member),

One of our Paramedic crews today attended a St Luke's patient and used the Single Point of Access service for advice-

The crew spoke to a staff member of St Luke's on the phone who gave immediate support and advice and then requested that Dr Lee and Clinical Nurse Specialist Sophie from St Luke's attend the patient's house. They arrived extremely promptly and arranged for a bed at the Hospice to become available. The Paramedic crew then transferred the patient to the Hospice in the ambulance.

The Paramedics felt that all the staff they liaised with were exceptionally supportive and professional to themselves and the patient and family. They had a very positive experience using this service. Another very positive example of our shared working with St Luke's.

Dear Anonymoushealthworker,

thank you for taking the time to send us your message. It is really useful for us to receive feedback so that we can continue to develop our services to meet the needs of local people.

It was really good to know that our Single Point of Access service, along with the North Brent Specialist Palliative Care Team were able to support the paramedic crew to enable an admission on this occasion. Sometimes this is not always possible, dependant on bed availability, but working together we can look at the options available to best support the individual.

It seems that the shared approach between St Luke's and The London Ambulance Service is really working well!
