This is an awful unit and our daughter is still deeply traumatised by her recent admission.
The quality of care was poor and staff did not involve us or our daughter in her plan of care. The physical environment was cramped, overcrowded, dirty and smelly, the food was inedible. Communication was terrible and chronic staff shortgages meant that staff responsiveness to patients and visitors was poor.
The whole environment was the opposite of therapeutic and it always seemed chaotic. No reasonable adjustments were made for special needs or disabilities and even basic human rights such as fresh air and excercise were sadly lacking.
The beautiful grounds and some of the available facilities are misleading because in the PICU the patients rarely if ever had access these.
It is astounding that such places still exist in this day and age and I would certainly never recommend allowing your loved one, or even worst enemy, to be admitted here.
