"Time and motion studdy"

About: Wokingham Medical Centre

In my opinion a lot of time is wasted at the Surgury, due to a second medical problem not being allowed to be mentioned to the doctor. This means a patient with a couple of severe problems will have to make another phone call (blocking the phone lines) or stand in line for a receptionist who could be dealing with another patient who has not seen the doctor yet. Were if the patient with the second medical problem was able to speak to the doctor which possibly could be connected, it would save time in the long run. Rather taking up another appointment a day or two later if lucky. Even the time a doctor sits in his or her room waiting for one patient to leave and another to get into the room would be shortened. The doctors are very good but the stress of getting an appointment or contacting the surgury for any reason is horrendous. I waited on the phone for 45 min. The other day it would have been quicker to come down to the surgury. Therefor the following day as I was unable to get an appointment my husband drive me down. He tried phoning while I sat in line on my buggy. He got an appointment just before I spoke to reception to be told I was unable to see my own doctor. To day I wanted to order my repeat prescription on line of Cetirizine only to find it is not on my repeat prescriptions anymore. I need these for a food allergy.I tried phoning surgury to be informed I was 12 inline this is at 10.30 I waited 20mins I was still 12th in-line.

Dear Patient,

Thank you for your feedback, our clinicians ask for one problem per appointment so that they can ensure they are treating patients in a safe way. When patients present with a number of different issues the clinician will with the patient decide the priority issue for that appointment.

To help patients request medications we have a form on our website for patients to complete without needing to attend the surgery. Should your medication not be on the repeat list you ae able to use this form to request them.

Should you wish to discuss this further please do contact one of our management team.

Kind regards

Wokingham Medical Centre
