After being advised by the NHS helpline and querying tbeir instructions we duly went to the Peterborough A&E.
On arrival we asked again if we should really be there and were told that yes, we should wait to be seen by the doctor, but would first need to be assessed by the nurse, but as they were busy that would take a couple of hours.
After two hours of waiting, we asked again.
It would be another two hours to see the nurse.
We left as no doubt that after another two hours we would still have to wait longer (now being 11 pm on a Friday and getting close to the time when the drunken injured start coming in).
No effort was made by the NHS trust/staff to update all of us waiting as to how long it would actually take to be seen (not difficult these days with computers and the big screens they have).
No doubt they are busy, but even though the place was full, there didn't seem to be any urgency to get people seen, just a resigned acceptance that they were busy and that everyone should wait for as long as they could be bothered to.
The managerial proceedures in place are pathetic.
"A&E is pathetic"
