The staff are all lovely
The flow worked well from ward 1B to theatre to 1A however I'd like to make some constructive criticism.
It would be good for parents to be given an approximate time their child may go to theatre. Even nipping to the loo is difficult in case it's time for the child to go to theatre.
To ask children who are fasting and bored to sit on uncomfortable chairs for hours in 1A isn't ideal.
Post op it was disappointing to be called into the ward sometime after my child arrived who had been upset. Surely the parents should be with their child as much as possible. Also he had been given ice cream when he has a milk intolerance.
I felt as though children were rushed to leave... to meet targets perhaps. One boy couldn't walk and was mocked by staff as " putting it on " his parents had to carry him when he obviously wasn't fit.
I asked for a pillow for my son to be told " we don't want them getting too comfortable and sleeping"
As I say it felt children were rushed to keep awake and to eat so they could be asked to leave.
As I say everyone was lovely.
