"My Mother"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / General medicine Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Rehabilitation Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / General medicine

(as a carer),

In November 2018 my Mother suffered a stroke and was admitted to the QMC where she was afforded excellent nursing care whilst being diagnosed. Once her condition had been ascertained she was moved to the City Hospital stroke unit, where again she was looked after very well by the nursing staff and support team. The Doctors were communicative and approachable and kept us abreast of Mothers actual progress. The Physiotherapist staff were kind considerate and encouraging throughout her stay up until Christmas when she was sent home, where she received ongoing Physio/Occupational therapy, and, a 4 week care package, that was second to none! My and my families thanks go to everyone who has been involved in looking after Joan Darby and reassuring her family at a very troubling time.

Thank you so much for your kind words and positive feedback about our Stroke Service at Nottingham City Hospital. We pride ourselves on working as one big team (Team NUH) and I’m pleased that everyone from our doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and support staff took such good care of your mother. It’s great to hear that your mother continued to receive good support from the community team following her discharge. I have shared your message of appreciation with relevant colleagues and partners.

Best wishes

Liz Wing

Deputy Matron, Stroke Medicine
