"No longer available to people in primary care"

About: Community mental health services / Recovery College

(as a service user),

Recently I found out that the Recovery college will no longer be available to people in primary care, this has been received quite negatively by many people who are still in primary care who use the service.

For People in Primary care this is one of their only main lifelines when it comes to getting the help and the information they need where icope and GP's have failed.

As being someone who has only recently been urgently referred by icope for an assessment for suicide prevention and the review of many aspects of my current mental health and diagnoses.

This comes as a great shock as I believe if I did not have the help and care of the Recovery college, I believe I would not have had the tools and the help I needed to get through this difficult time and would not of manage to restrain myself from doing it...
Aswell as many others who are still still stuck in primary care without the care and help like Recovery college gives us.

I would Personally like to thank Fiona as she was one of the main peer trainers who helped me pull through that difficult time with her kind words aswell as many of the other people who use the services.

Dear Prince Diva,

Thank you for taking the time for giving us your feedback and we are sorry that this has affected you and others negatively. We do however have good news - that the primary care pilots have been extended for another term, from April to July 2019.

We are aware of the significant impact the College has had on our primary care students and we are keen for this access to become permanent. So during this period we will be meeting with Commissioners in these areas to discuss funding to turn the pilots into ongoing future access.

I hope the College continues to be helpful and supportive to you.

kind regards,

Jeremy Coutinho

Recovery College Manager
