"Cancelled appointment - late notice...."

About: Derriford Hospital / General medicine

(as a parent/guardian),

My son requires treatment - which is only provided at Derriford (out patient clinics at the local hospital were stopped......)

Waiting times for these appointments are awkward- and we are lucky to get one.....

To get my son to hospital I have to take a day off work (it’s about a three hour round trip to Derriford + waiting & clinic times...)

My son is studying for his A Levels - and has had to take a day off College fr the appointment........valuable study time lost.....

Imagine the frustration to be phoned up 4 hours before the clinic time to be informed that the Consultant has phoned in sick and ALL of his clinic has been cancelled - I cannot believe that for a hospital the size of Derriford there is no backup procedure/consulatancy to deal with this......

The next available appointment is (possibly) at the end of April - a further 6 weeks wait!

We have had to make an emergency appointment at our local Doctors now so that he can receive some treatment.......

I find this level of service totally unacceptable!
