"My 13yr old son was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease"

About: Royal Hospital for Sick Children (Yorkhill) / Gastroenterology

(as a parent/guardian),

My big boy has made the transition now over to the Royal Infirmary Hospital from the Children's Hospital and I just want to thank you all so so much for all of the help, support and care that you have given all of us over the past 4 years.

From those 1st few months after my son was diagnosed which were a complete whirlwind to us all (especially with a baby due any day after his diagnosis!) I could not see the light at the end of the tunnel and felt completely devastated and utterly useless in trying to help my son but with the support from Vikki and Lee the IBD specialist nurses, in those first few months, they helped not only my son but they also saved me from crashing and burning and for that I will be forever grateful to the both of them!

I am writing this with tears streaming down my face as it's taking me back to that time but also reminding me of the progress my son has made in those 4 years.

Vikki, Lee and Lisa always go above and beyond for the kids, especially with my son being an awkward teenager, he always spoke so fondly of you both, especially Vikki who always made him laugh (and that takes a lot!).

I am sending the warmest of best wishes to you all for the future and can't thank you enough for your knowledge, expertise, kindness and professionalism that we received in the last 4 years.

Sending all our love,

 xxxx

Dear L Mum,

Thank you so much for sharing the details of both yours and your sons emotive journey from early diagnosis through to transition to adult services.

I'm already aware that your post has been shared with Vikki, Lee and Lisa, and they were delighted to receive your feedback.

I wish your son all the very best for his future care with our colleagues at GRI.

Thanks again for taking the time to write to us - it's really made our day

Kindest regards

Coral
