I received a call on a Tuesday asking if I would be interested in a slot for day surgery on the Sunday at 8am. I jumped at the chance because I had been waiting a while and as it was in my local hospital, it was not a problem.
So, I turned up at 8am and was received by very friendly nurses, taken to my bed and had all the normal paperwork filled in. Met other nurses from theatre and the surgeon on duty. I was surprised that the hospital was operating on a Sunday but they told me it is a good time to get through a number of day surgeries as the hospital is so quiet.
Everything went really smoothly and the staff were happy to answer my questions. A couple of hours later, I was awake and having a cup of tea.
