"Dedicated staff in A&E"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Having been admitted to A&E via 999 with a racing heart beat in April 2012, the speed and service i received the moment i entered A&E, general kindness and personal attention and obvious dedication of staff was excellent.

I have nothing but praise for the staff in A&E. Within seconds of being admitted i was put on a heart monitor, blood pressure taken and ECG.

I must mention nursing sister Jean Haydar who went above her normal duty. Jean's duty finished that day at 8pm but she stayed with me on my transfer to the Medical Assessment Unit at 8.40pm. That's what i call dedication.

I am very pleased to read these comments, which I will pass to the staff concerned, including Sr Haydar, who clearly went “the extra mile”. This must have been a very worrying time for you, and I am pleased our staff responded so well.

Best wishes

Philip Dylak

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved?

Please contact Philip Dylak, Director of Nursing at philip.dylak@tgh.nhs.uk
