"Chest Pain on right side"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital / Accident and emergency

I was admitted by ambulance to A & E on Monday 4th March with severe chest pain. The paramedics were fabulous calming and checking me out before taking me to hospital. Once there I was seen fairly quickly (luckily it wasn’t as busy as normal when I know staff struggle to cope with high numbers). The poor nurse had to kneel on the floor to try for a third time to get blood off me as I don’t give it easily!

She was lovely and her colleague too. The lady doctor I saw was very approachable and explained exactly what was being done before sending me to ambulatory care for my final checks. This was a a very new and impressive department. There was a wait but not excessive and once again the lady doctor I saw there was lovely. All in all I had a very good experience and was sent home knowing all checks had been done and advice to return should my symptoms return.

I know I was lucky as I mentioned above that I arrived at a less busy time but all the staff do deserve a lot of credit for all the hard work they do.
