"heart attack"

About: Derriford Hospital / Cardiology

I was taken to Derriford with a suspected heart attack.

From the moment the helicopter landed the cardio team were right on it! One particular doctor performed an emergency stent and everyone was diligent, caring and had just the right amount of levity to take ones mind off the gravity of my situation.

Stent fitted I was taken to Torcross ward to recover.

Everyone there was very attentive and lovely, special mention for Kat, my nurse, who was friendly, caring and efficient.

Then to Bickleigh ward. Again same level of care. Everyone one from hygiene staff to doctors were lovely.

Only downside was that, on discharge, had to wait approximately 5 hours for medication taking up a bed in the process.

Chantelle Lea, Cardiology Cluster Administrator, has responded to say:

Please thank the patient for their lovely comments about Cardiology which will be shared with everyone in the department.

Please also send our apologies for the delay in being discharged.

Sometimes the discharge does take longer when waiting for medication which we are working on improving.

We hope he is recovering well from his procedure.

Kind regards

Chantelle
