My wife is hopefully going to get some help soon with a whole range of mental health problems identified by a psychiatrist. i saw the same psychiatrist who although recognising my difficulties was reluctant to make any formal diagnosis but just referred me for cbt (again). I feel that this psychiatrist must have realised that my wife's conditions would inevitably impact on my own state of mind but would not formally acknowledge this. Therefore I am left to cope with not only my own mental health issues but to cope with hers as well (and also try to act as an amateur therapist for her).
They said they could not discuss her issues (data protection) which i accept but to act as if they would have no effect upon me and that my issues (and hers) are ours and ours alone and not linked in any way is patently ridiculous. i am left in a catch22 position from which i have no chance of escape without causing untold damage to her (which i will not do)- i would happily escape my situation by shuffling off this mortal coil but am unable to do this -the catch 22.
"my wife has long standing mental health problems, as do i,"
