"IUD Removal"

About: Leigh Infirmary / Gynaecology Royal Bolton Hospital

(as a service user),

I tried to have my contraceptive coil removed at my local clinic but they were unable to locate it, and said I would need to wait for over a month to see the doctor to try and remove it. I ended up going to The Royal Bolton instead and was seen by a doctor who managed to get it out in around 1 minute with minimal pain and discomfort. I cannot praise the doctor enough, he made me feel as relaxed as it's possible to be in such a painful situation, and his nurse was very friendly and welcoming.

It brought to an end a difficult situation and I am very grateful to the staff of The Royal Bolton, and the NHS who I have spoken to in relation to this. The nurse on reception was less friendly and tried to advise me that it would not be possible to remove it before I had been seen, so I am very glad I insisted and waited to be seen.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to share your positive feedback on the care you received here at the hospital. I'm pleased to hear we were able to help. Thank you for your comments about the nurse on reception which I will pass on to the team so that they can learn from your experience. Regards
