"Opthalmology 5Star Service"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital

I was referred to the UHNM for cataract surgery by my optician and can say with complete honesty that the service/care which I received was excellent. I was booked in for surgery on 28/12/2018 but my consultant was unhappy to proceed with the surgery without further tests (I have M,S, and associated eye problems). Some of the tests took place on that day and I was given a future appointment for 15/02/2019. During the intervening period I had further tests and an MRI scan.

I returned on 15/02 and saw the consultant who conducted a further examination of my eyes , She had already scrutinised all of the test results and had spoken to my Specialist MS nurse. She then explained all of the results to my husband and I taking care that we fully understood what the results meant, It was decided that surgery was not indicated at this time and I was extremely grateful for the lengths gone to ensure that the decision was made with care and expertise.

I am certain that I could not have received better care and wish to thank my consultant and all the staff in the Department who were without exception both professional and caring.
