I was admitted to labour ward and assessed for delivery. I was sent to ward 17 for labour to progress. I successfully delivered a baby girl less than 6 hours after admission under the care of the midwives. The care and attention I received was of the highest standard. I received true patient centred, personalised care from the minute I entered the department to when I left. The labour and delivery was done by Kelly and Bev who keep my mood and momentum going throughout. Their support, expertise and general demeanour were integral to a safe and “enjoyable”’experience during what is, without doubt, an anxious and stressful time. My husband was included in decisions, observations and developments which in turn allowed him to support me and be a part of the process.
I was an inpatient two days and a night on wd17. The care mirrored that given on labour ward. Domestics, CSWs and midwives were very attentive, chatty and approachable. Nothing was too much bother to anyone. Information was consistent and plentiful supplemented by written information.
I was given the option of delivering my baby at ERI but I could not fault the service at BGH. I would recommend BGH on the basis of my experience of such a high standard of care, personal service and professionalism
