"Wonderful treatment at RAH"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Gastroenterology Royal Alexandra Hospital / Outpatients

(as the patient),

Towards the end of last year I became ill with what I thought At first was a flare up of my Ulcerative Colitis. With advice from the Inflammatory bowel nurses and my doctor my medication was increased. This did not help and I became really ill and had to be admitted to Hospital. The first time I had been in Hospital in over 17 years because of my Ulcerative Colitis. It was discovered I had C-Diff infection. I had felt so poorly at home I knew there was more going on than just my Ulcerative Colitis. I ended up in Hospital for 3 weeks. In this time I was treated with steroids and antibiotics, Both IV and Oral and I had 2 sigmoidoscopies. I have never felt so ill but with the great care and attention from all the staff in ward 27 things were made so much bearable. Treating 2 conditions like this seemed to be hard to get on top of.I was updated everyday by doctors and kept very informed of what was happening. It was so obvious that everyone was working so hard to get me fit again. It was so reassuring to have daily updates from the doctors. Everyone in the ward- Doctors, nurses, student nurses were so kind and caring and gave me so much attention in a ward that was so busy both day and night.I can't praise Doctor Heydtmann, Doctor Robertson and all the other Doctors enough (apologies that I cannot remember all the names). So pleased to say that I am keeping better now. Will always be grateful for the wonderful treatment I was given by all the staff in Ward 27.

Thank you and Regards

Dear Anne

Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to share your experience. The last few months must have been very difficult and a worrying time for you but I was really pleased to hear that you felt supported and reassured by the staff looking after you. We have shared your kind and encouraging comments with the staff involved, which they were delighted to receive.

I do hope that you are continuing to make a good recovery and thank you again for your feedback which was most thoughtful and greatly appreciated.

With all best wishes,

Linda
