I phoned today 5/2/19 and yet a again no appointments either to see a doctor, no phone call until Thursday 7/1/19.
You will see the last time I saw a doctor face to face was almost 2 years ago, only telephone consultation, this happenens all the time because the receptionists make the decision.
I think as a retired nurse this is very dangerous as they are not qualified to make that decision ie there could be underlying causes for a patients medical complaint.
(This happened to my husband, he rang for an appointment got a phone call, complaining of pain in his shoulder, given medication, sent to physio). The pain got so bad I called the Dr out sent to hospital diagnosed with cancer of the lung.
He died 6 weeks later.
Had he seen a doctor instead of a phone call and diagnosed earlier things might have been different.
It was not your surgery.
This is why I feel so strongly re phone consultations and receptionists making medical decisions ie whether you can see a doctor.
I wanted to discuss a new medication( which I have been told you don’t perscribe)with a doctor as I am fed up with opioids as they are addictive, my pain is chronic, ie arthritic spine and 2 blown discs caused by nursing.
It would have been helpful if I could have sat FACE TO FACE with a Doctor instead of a receptionist making a decision for
me, this is why I feel there is no patient care, we are just a number.
