I'm so glad I chose to have my first child under the care of NGH, wish I could give more stars.
I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia towards the end of my pregancy and was in and out of the maternity day unit for the final three weeks of my pregnancy where everyone from admin staff, support workers and midwives were so friendly and supportive. I was then induced at 38 weeks on the labour ward (sturridge) and had the help and support of the most lovely and caring midwives who were so reassuring. After giving birth we were moved to Robert Watson ward where we unfortunately had to stay for two weeks while my daughter was being given an antiviral drip every 8 hours on Gosset ward. This was a very hard and traumatic time and not how I pictured spending the first two weeks as a mum, however I cannot praise enough all the staff on Robert Watson ward. The midwives were so helpful and efficient and accommodating. The Midwife Support Workers were outstanding and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and human while I was stuck in hospital, every single one helped me in ways I will never forget, and I even managed to have a few laughs while I was going through this experience. Even the cleaners and catering staff supported me during my stay.
Thankfully my daughter is now home and well, and is being treated as an outpatient under the excellent and thorough care of Dr Barnes.
I will never regret the decision of having my first child here. The staff were doing an outstanding job despite constant hurdles and budget cuts. They are a credit to the hospital and the NHS.
