"Surgery Cancelled twice for 4 year old!!"

About: The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford)

ENT Surgery Date’s: 07/01/2019 (Cancelled Friday 4th January @16:30/5pm)

11/02/2019 (Cancelled 6:06am Monday 11/02/19 – as I called

hospital to confirm)

I want to explain first why I am so upset with the ENT NHS Service being offered currently at Princess Royal Hospital Telford.

My son has had persistent breathing issues which were only addressed when we moved here from London in 2017 (Please refer to doctor’s notes). He is becoming more lethargic and struggling during his day due to his low oxygen levels and lack of proper sleep. This is not acceptable anymore this has been going on for months with me (Taking time out of my working day as a single mother) chasing for a date and constantly being told he is a priority but there are no beds available twice now.

My son is not well, and I won’t accept this treatment any further he is 4 years old and does not understand why he struggles so much, and his friends don’t. He was diagnosed with asthma and his inhalers have helped him but listening to him breathing at night keeps me up. In turn this is influencing my health and well-being, I am struggling with every day activities. I don’t think you understand what is like going a year waiting on results and a surgery date only for it to be cancelled on the morning of the operation! And the only reason I found out it was cancelled was due to me calling, can you explain to me how and why this is acceptable to put a 4-year-old through? and how has this happened to a priority patient twice?

All I wanted was for my son to have his surgery, a surgery which your doctor advised he needed, so much so he is a priority. But this does not seem to be happening. I have twice now taken time off work and twice I have been cancelled. It is twice I have asked favors of family members and friends to help look after my son during the 2-week recovery and twice they have had to try and rearrange there day some of whom were unable and now won’t be able to help me when this surgery does happen. So, what can I do now? Who will mind my son when this surgery does happen? If it happens! How do you think this is ok even toward my family members??

I have sent letters to all Board members, and any staff I feel could help.
