"Help after bereavement,work issues and..."

Talking therapies did not me what others could not do.

I have just finished eight sessions of first class counselling following my losing a parent,problems at work and historical child sex abuse involving a person involved in a religious organisation.

My psychotherapist was a great listener and non judgrmental.

I have learned over the last three months how to cope and look forward to life.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience with the Talking Therapies Team. I am so glad to hear that it has been successful for you. I have shared your story with Marc McDonagh, the lead for the Talking Therapies Team and this is his response:

You offer a very good example of how so-called ‘short term’ therapy of 8 sessions can in fact be very effective, even with such historical and difficult issues. We work hard with patients at the start of treatment to ensure expectations are clear and that practical, suitable goals have been agreed, so that the therapy can be as useful as possible. This approach appears to have paid off very well for you.''
