"Step2change awful team"

About: Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

I've been referred by my GP to the Mental Health Team at Step2Change numerous times during the last couple of years because this department assessed your case on the phone and simply push you aside dismissing your attempts at getting the help I've needed for many years.

In desperation in July 2017 I again went back to my GP to be informed that I had been discharged. No letter, no contact direct. I again pushed for assessment and went through the laborious process of a telephone call, a 4 month wait to be given the outcome. As a mental health team I would have thought keeping your patients informed was paramount. I was this time informed that I could finally see someone face to face, who knew, an actual person. Again this took a significant amount of time. Towards the end of summer 2018 I met a human who said she could help, but alas, how wrong was I to expect someone to offer that help. She simply sat with me for 30 minutes passing me useless condescending pamphlets like I was a school kid. After the 2nd appointment I queried the process to be told it was a Self help scheme......what? Do you not think I've tried to help myself? Here I was again circling in the blackness of depression thinking no-one cares. Eventually after complaining I was told that referral to counselling had been arranged. Another 4 months and I had my 1st session. It was mundane and detail taking only. Second appointment was actually better. However my third was cancelled due to illness just as I arrived, having spent 75 minutes fighting traffic, a new appointment made for the following week, again cancelled with 10 minutes to the start. This service lacks integrity, compassion and understanding. The latest cancellation has pushed me under again and I've lost all faith in this service, no-one at the centre ever gives a proper answer and I'd question their effectiveness. My depression has taken everything from me and no matter what they say they'll do they fail miserably.

And the cheek of it all is that if I missed an appointment they'd discharge me.

And to anyone who replies in the standard robotic way from the NHS customer relations team....I'm NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR FALSE COMPASSION AND SUPPOSED UNDERSTANDING, get off your bum and sort this joke.

Thank you for taking the time to post these comments. I am very concerned by your experience of the service and would really like to investigate this further if you could please contact the PALS team on 01529 22265/210/266, so that I can look into this. Steps2change Service Manager
