"So grateful and full of admiration"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Orthopaedics (Wards 10a, 10b, 10c &10d) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

I was at a local shopping centre when I slipped and fell, fracturing my femur. The two paramedics from Butterbiggings Road station were fantastic - so professional, reassuring and kind.

This set the tone for the rest of the week.

From the ambulance, to A&E at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, to Orthopaedic Wards 10D and 10B, I was treated with respect and utter professionalism; doctors, auxiliaries, nurses, student nurses, surgeon, anaesthetist, occupational therapist, physiotherapists, young men and women who brought food and drinks - I was overwhelmed with the care I received. I know our glorious NHS is under financial strain, and many of the people who helped me will work so hard for less money than they deserve.

But every one of them - except one auxiliary! Sorry! - was a credit to the NHS. I am so grateful and full of admiration for all the work these people do every day. Thank you.

Dear Maggie28,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read about your fracture. That must have been very painful and quite terrifying. I am however, very pleased to read all of the wonderful comments that you have made about our staff and the staff within our partners in the wider NHS Scotland. Your comments are gratefully received.

I do hope that you are on the road to a full recovery and your rehab goes smoothly.

Kind Regards

Alan

Dear Maggie28

Thank you for the taking the time to post your kind words regarding the staff that cared for you following your accident. I will ensure that this is shared widely with the staff in the orthopaedic areas. I am disappointed though that one auxiliary has caused you upset during your stay. If you would like to provide more details to me, I can look into this further. My email contact is susan.groom@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

Kind Regards

Susan Groom
