About: Grove Surgery

I am very disappointed with lack of compassion from the reception staff. Let me start by saying am not a person who makes a fuss and I honestly understand that GP and hospitals are under a lot of pressure but being compassion and kind to your fellow human being doesn't cost anything. Anyways after a long night with my son who hard a high fever I called the gp and begged for an appointment and was give one at 12. Please not that I suffere from Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) so on my way to the gp I triggered an SVT attach which happens beyond my control and I have to sit down and control the symptom before it gets out of hand so when I got surgery i sat down for a few minutes while my son was on the pushchair I then approached the receptionist and gave my sons name and they told me to take a seat, the receptionist then called me and told I can not be seen as I was late 16 minutes I tried to explain my situation and the receptionist was very rude and didn't wanna listen, they sat a cross the room not near the window where they would have been able to notice I was there 11minutes before I approached them to tell I was on the premises and due to a medical condition I need to stablise my self first therefore I can be able to help my son who needed to be seen as he had high fever and I was concerned it could be something serious. I left without being seeing and the the receptionist couldn't care less it was a sick child, fair enough if it was me I wouldn't care what happens to me but this is a child that required medical attention and due to unfortunate circumstances I was late and the receptionist should have understand that, there is no need to be rude. I am not writing this to give you a bad review or damage the surgery reputation. I am genuinely hurt and disappointed on how I was treated I now have to wait till I pick my other kids from school so I can take my son to A&E while his sitting here burning up. Please make changes before you ignore those in need.

Dear Patient,

I am extremely sorry that you are disappointed with the lack of compassion shown in regards to your being late for an appointment at practice.

Like most GP practices we have a time limit of 10 minutes allowance for lateness.

If this policy was not upheld then the clinical appointments would run much later hence having an adverse effect on the other patients also waiting to be seen on the day.

At the end of the clinicians sessions they also have to complete paperwork, telephone calls as well as home visits on the day, which as you can imagine take up quite some time too during this period.

Please feel free to contact me with any other issues that you feel you may like to talk about.

Kind regards

Ms J Dorman

Practice Manager
