"5 hour wait + 1 hour for prescription - ending..."

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

My Granddaughter had symptoms of a Urinary Tract Infection that had been getting worse, after trying to get an emergency GP appointment without any luck she called 111 and they told her to go to walk-in Clinic (A&E) at St. Georges.

She arrived at 10:15 am and after waiting 2 hours was told to give a urine sample.

After another 2.5 hours and seeing people coming in and being seen, and then leaving. She asked the receptionist why she was still waiting while the others had been seen and gone. Only to then be told, she had been discharged accidentally from the system.

By this time she was very anxious and upset due to having to take all this time off from work.

They then said she would be seen next, but with no apology for the error.

She waited another 30 minutes to finally be given a prescription by a Doctor that had to be collected from the Hospital pharmacy.

She would have another hour to wait.

this became too much for her and she broke down in tears, unfortunately, she has had a very negative first experience of the NHS.

I hope this has not made her reluctant to take care of her health and seek help in the future.
