"Diagnosis and treatment of knee pain"

About: Chard Hospital Musgrove Park Hospital / Diagnostic Imaging

Given the gloom-laden stories of waiting lists and long queues for treatment I wonder if my experience is exceptional. I hope it is not.

Having experienced pain in my knee for three months the Nurse Practitioner at the local GP surgery (who I was able to see the day after I phoned) advised me to go to the drop-in Xray department at Musgrove Park Hospital and to make an appointment to see the physiotherapist at Chard Hospital. 

I was seen immediately at Musgrove Park and an appointment was available at Chard within five days of my initial surgery visit.

At Chard, I was seen immediately. The physiotherapist was both charming, reassuring and extremely efficient. My Xrays were available on the system and she was able to issue a diagnosis and advise me about treatment and therapies. 

I cannot fault the experience I have had within the NHS and would like to register my gratitude for a system which, in my case at least, has delivered a prompt diagnosis and a way forward with an ongoing condition.
