"Out of hours surgery care"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services / GP Out of Hours service NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service)

(as the patient),

I called NHS24 about a badly infected elbow and from start to finish I can’t fault and wish to praise the friendly, helpful and excellent  care I was given.  The initial call to NHS24 warned me I would get an appointment within 4 hours however 10 minutes later I was given an appointment and travelled an hour to be seen (the joys of living in a rural location at the boundary of two local authorities).  On arriving in Hamilton friendly faces greeted me, drugs were prescribed, wounds washed and dressed, instructions given as what to do next day and off home we went relieved that all was well.

Thanks so much for sharing positive feedback on your experience of NHS 24 and NHS Lanarkshire Out of Hours Service. So sorry to hear about your elbow, which does sound sore, but hopefully you are now on the mend.

It would be great for us to be able to pass your complimentary feedback to the staff who managed your call to NHS 24. Our staff work hard to ensure that patients get the most appropriate care, so it is always good to share good feedback with them. Your story is a fantastic example of joined up working, which is especially important to patients who live rurally, and one to be celebrated!
