"Worst appointment system ever!!!!!!!! Stay away"

About: Dr Gs Kalkat's Practice

Today I tried from 8am on two different phones (I know how difficult it’s to get an appointment in this surgery so you have to get creative!) calling the surgery for an emergency appointment as I have been very unwell for the past 4 days, for the first 6 minutes dialling non stop from my two phones, every time I chose the option 1 (appointment option), I would get a message saying my call could not be processed at that time, to try later and cut me off. At 08:06 I failed and finally got on the queue (I was number 9) by the time I got to talk to a receptionist all appointments were taken, the receptionist told me to call again at 14:50 for afternoon/evening appointments so I did, at 14:50 I was dialling from 3! Different handsets, and got on the queue at 14:54 (I was number 7), by the time I spoke to the receptionist....surprise!!! No more appointments left. I have lived in this country for the past 12 years and have moved quite a bit which has meant that I have had several different GP’s around London area, this is by far the worst surgery I have ever been a patient, this is actually my first complaint ever!! Please stay away from this surgery, I have never seen anything like it. Yes, many surgeries have same system of having to call at opening times for emergency appointments but their systems work, this one doesn’t and I had this same situation over 5 months ago and that time was for my 4 year old son, which it’s worse. Doctors and nurses are good but their booking system is horrible, this surgery’s Manager needs to rethink their booking system. I am going to a different GP, I’m not taking this anymore.

I would like to start by saying I am sorry you have had reason to complain. We have 2 lines coming in to the surgery and then a call waiting system. When appointments are released, there are always 2 receptionists present to take bookings. Monday is the most busy day of the week. The receptionists are trained to handle calls as fast as they are able with routine queries advised to call at a less busier time. I apologise again for not being able to offer you appointment on the day. We will work with our phone provider to determine if any other system can be implemented especially during busy times. If you wish to discuss this further please contact the manager.
