"Staff were helpful and kind, but facilities need upgrading"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I cannot praise the staff in the labour ward and in ward 17 highly enough. The midwives, the auxiliaries, the porters - everyone was so friendly, calm, professional and reassuring. My only complaint is regarding the toilet facilities - the labour rooms really need ensuite toilets. It was very uncomfortable and undignified to go into the corridor in my hospital gown pulling a drip machine and trying to hide my body while in labour... Again the staff were so helpful and kind during this process, but the facilities need upgrading.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby. Thank you for taking the time to feedback about your time with us. Feedback is hugely important to us in order that we can share what has gone well and also what could have been better. It is lovely to hear you found those involved in your care helpful and supportive.

Labour ward would benefit from some refurbishment and this work would aim to include the provision of en suite facilities. I shall ensure your comments are shared with the appropriate staff here at the Borders General Hospital.

best wishes

shona
