"Best birthing experience I could have asked for"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

Fortunately, I had a very straightforward birth but all the staff were brilliant throughout our stay.

They wanted to be kept in the loop when contractions started at home. The midwife took note of my birth plan and kept me in the loop of everything that was happening, what to expect etc and she took really good care of me. After the birth, the doctors seeing to me were brilliant and again, kept me in the loop, answered my questions and reassured me I was doing brilliantly which is sometimes all you need to hear.

The staff helped support my husband as he was seeing to our little one and I felt we were checked in on frequently and the staff couldn’t have been more accomdating.

I had a bad time with breastfeeding and wasn’t allowed to leave until little one had fed. Something I felt upset about at the time as I wanted to go home but in hindsight, was the best thing for us as the midwives/nurses/night staff all took the time to sit with me and help. One of the staff also took our little one for a few hours so we could get some sleep as we struggling to settle our baby. Also staying in the extra night meant I got my roast dinner on the Sunday :-) food was spot on.

You generally only hear about bad experiences but I couldn’t fault anything whilst giving birth and in the hositpals care. A few days after discharge, I struggled again with feeding and they sent a midwife to me right away.

My only small negative is I didn’t have a consistent midwife throughout the pregnancy whilst isnt a big issue, I found myself repeating a lot of things or being told a lot of the same things. I’d rather of built up a relationship with the one person who knew me well so I could depend on their help. However all the midwifes I saw were supportive and kind and even though it’s their job, genuinely took an interest in my pregnancy so I didn’t just feel “like a patient”.

Thank you Lincoln Maternity for taking good care of me. Shame you couldn’t have prevent the downstairs trauma though haha :-D

Hi

Thank you for taking to time to share your lovely feedback especially as you now have your hands full with a new board baby.

We do strive to make sure all our ladies and their families have an enjoyable experience at such an important time in their lives. Partners being able to remain on the ward at all times has also proven invaluable.

We always try to ensure that ladies do have the same midwife throughout but sometimes when the antenatal clinics and maternity unit is particularly busy we cant always ensure this is the case.

Many thanks

Yvonne
