My 17 year old daughter was taken into Larbert Hospital at the end of September 2018. She was quickly diagnosed with Endocarditis, a serious heart infection. Subsequently she had bilateral pneumonia and blood clots in her arteries. She was seriously ill and terrified. We were fortunate enough to be met at the Acute Assessment Unit (heaving with new patients) by a number of amazing nurses and doctors who instantly understood my daughters serious condition. Cardiology was called and attended quickly. My daughter was taken up to cardiology and stayed there for just over 7 weeks. The staff of Larbert Hospital literally saved my daughters life and the care and support we all received was exemplary. I can’t explain the incredible attention and number of procedures she received .. echos, ecgs, xrays, ct scans, mri scans, pecc lines and the lifesaving combination of antibiotics. This nearly broke my daughter but the care and support shown by the nursing staff meant she (and we) got through it all. As her mum, I want to thank everyone from the amazing Dr Glen, and all the wonderful doctors, the nurses of the Cardiology ward and all the housekeeping, porters and domestic staff. They became like family and it was actually hard to leave. To this day we miss them and their friendship.
