"My care after my operation on ward A10"

About: Lister Hospital

I had a operation on the 7 December before I had the operation, I had 3 appointments with different doctor's to make a plan of action for my pain relief. It was decided I would have a morphine pump after the operation to control my own pain, but when I got on to the ward I could not believe that the nurse on that night decided I did not need this pump because I have a morphine patch due to my other conditions. The nurse spent the night going through my records & decided I could not have as many illness as I did. Like in 2015 I had encephalitis and have short term memory loss. She went on to talk about me through out the night with other staff this went on for to tonight's with me in so much pain. I had to call my husband at 2.30pm to get him to get me some help as she would not help at all.

After spending 3 days in hospital in total pain I was sent home still in pain unable to walk right I also had 4 seizures when I was in hospital.

The staff were rude and nasty my husband is my full time carer and I got no help at all when I was In hospital at all with washing or walking to the toilet.

I was got out of bed at 2am after my operation to use the toilet which I kept saying I could not go or walk I was then got out at 4 am to do the sane

One week on im still in the most worse pain iv been in. Was given no advice no appointment to see my doctor for check up told 3 months would be ok after such a big operation. Was not given the full operation outcome. Wish I had never had this done by this hospital feel so let down

Thank you for your review Dom. We're very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your experience at the Lister and we will be sharing your review with our senior team in gynaecology. If you haven't done so already, we would encourage you to get in touch with our patient advice and liaison service (PALS), particularly if you still have on-going appointments with us, so any issues you have can be looked in to. Their contact details are available on our website: https://www.enherts-tr.nhs.uk/patients-visitors/advice-and-support/pals/
