I delivered my second baby at Torbay hospital last week and have to say, through both my birthing experiences the hospital and staff have been excellent. They involved me in all aspects of options and care, even though both deliveries were totally different. My midwife during my second delivery, which was not as easy as planned, was excellent. She ensured I was at the forefront of her care, throughout her whole shift. Her colleague was also fantastic and both of them worked together efficiently and as an awesome team. I was outraged to hear they had limited formula milk provided for patients due to lack of funding and they had nearly run out until 5 days time when they would get more donated. For some, this is an essential item needed! I understand there are priorities with the limited funding there is, but to not be able to feed babies because there isnt enough formula available is really quite disgraceful. Our NHS is a thing to treasure and appreciate, our government and funding has let it down. The care and support I have received through both my pregnancies through all the midwifery team and staff in the hospital has been absolutely amazing, and to think we could have paid hundreds or thousands in another country for that experience makes me really appreciate what we have. Thank you NHS and Torbay, especially to all involved with mine and both my babies care. (Jo white also throughout my whole pregnancy).
