"Doctor's Surgery Out Of Hours Service"

About: South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / NHS 111

I was very ill on Saturday with acute lower back pain that was causing me to continually vomit. I had tried earlier in the day to see a chiropractor without success and by 3pm I was so tired and unable to keep any painkillers down.

Through the NHS 111 service I was able to get a doctors appointment at 7:40pm. The very kind and lovely doctor I saw gave me an anti-nausea pill straightaway and suppositories for my back pain. The relief was immediate. After 14 hours in agony I got some respite.

This is a fabulous service. I would have had no alternative but to go to A&E where I would have waited an age because I would not have been an emergency as I was not in a life threatening condition.

This was an entirely appropriate service for my condition and I am so grateful to have been relieved of the acute pain and vomiting. Thank you so much and thank you to that lady doctor for working unsocial hours. You made a massive difference to my condition and to the gentleman on reception who I suspect was a volunteer. A great service which clearly saves the NHS a fortune by preventing attendances at A&E. Thank you again.
