My dad was diagnosed with an advanced cancer in September.
Early December he was very unwell & my mum had to call an ambulance. He was taken to his local hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital. He was seen initially by a doctor in A& E & was then transferred to Ward 20, Receiving Ward for further investigation & treatment. Once he stabilised & treatment was working he was moved to Ward 19, Palliative Care.
A special thank you to Lynn, nurse on Ward 20 who looked after my dad. She was very caring. Also a junior doctor called Scott (never found out his surname). He was very compassionate & explained in detail what was happening with my dad. He always had time to speak to my mum & I & any questions we had he answered.
Another big thank you to the nurses in Ward 19. Without them my dad would not be home for Christmas. In particular Sam, so warm & caring with a few laughs added. Paula for keeping an eye on what my dad was eating! Fiona & Helena for the wonderful care they provided & also Senior Charge Nurse Gillian for her compassion & for sorting everything to get my dad home.
There was also a student attending to my dad. He was called David. He was great with my dad. He finished his placement 2 days before my dad was discharged. We wish him all the best with the rest of his studies & know he will make an excellent nurse. You are all wonderful & my mum & I cant thank you enough.
